I went to the flea market this past weekend and picked up these totally cool billiard balls. What’s so cool, you ask? They’ve got a hole drilled in ‘em and they are attached to a door ratchet. For now, they could replace any doorknob for a decorative look. But I have other plans…

This father and son were repainting the outside of their store this morning. The dad had to paste down this goal foil material and then the son had to quickly paint over it with his brush. There was gold foil flying everywhere because he kept missing, but it was a really sweet moment between the two of them. Maybe I’ll print it out and drop it by their store. Then again, might be creepy.

I’ve always noticed the clunky eye sores (see left picture) used by contractors to prevent skateboarders from wrecking havoc on public sidewalks and benches. Although probably necessary, they aren’t really aesthetically appealing, unless you’re into that sort of thing. So imagine my excitement when I saw turtles and starfish take the place of hanging metal along a stretch of the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building (see right picture). It is an artistic twist on an old idea. Art can be functional!
My mom came to visit me in SF and within the first 10 minutes she was wiping down the counters and doing dishes all the while on the phone with a friend. Typical mom.

I love grass like this. I always have, and I think it’s because as a kid I got to lay in it with my sister and cousins. We took this picture and that grass has been burned into my memories every since.

This is my new running route. I start at Andrew’s place and end here.
Needless to say, it motivates me to keep going.
The plan
Since it’s summer and I won’t be telling crazy stories from school as often (but don’t fret – there’s still room for some good ol’ flashbacks), I need to come up with a fun way to share my summer adventures. And I have.
I’ll be posting a photo a day from something I did or saw or experienced using my trusty iPhone camera. Sometimes it’ll be funny or weird or sad or probably confusing. But it will be a good way to chronicle my summer days and maybe entertain you. Then, about once a week, I’ll post a narrative about something cool, an update on my projects, or a reflection on the year passed. Should be fun, and certainly won’t get boring.
Enjoy!
