Roommates
I have two roommates:
Brian
A very witty and smart guy, Brian is an English teacher in one of the nation’s most high-need schools (Camden High School). Despite it all, he hangs in there and makes things happen. I admire him for it, because I’m not sure I would be able to do what he does everyday. It makes me work harder. A part-time cynic and sharp debater, I have had some of the deepest discussions and greatest laughs with him. It’s also been nice to have someone to relate to, since he’s from Sacramento, too. A coincidence, really.
Becca

Bright, funny and quirky, Becca is an all-star science teacher. She is hyper-organized, super-driven and a true-to-form TFA teacher. I use her as a model for what to do in my classroom when I find myself unmotivated. She can graph pretty much anything about her classroom, from attendance to grades to correlations between the two variables. It’s impressive, and kind of daunting. Nonetheless, she makes me want to do more and be better.
Unfortunately, Brian is looking for a new place to live in the middle of our lease, so Becca and I are looking for a third roommate to take his room from March until July. Below is the craigslist ad we posted – please pass along our information to anyone who might be interested.

$700 Cozy room in Queen Village
Hello!
We live in a newly renovated 3 bedroom, 2 full bath apartment/row house in a lively and safe South Philadelphia neighborhood. Our third roommate needs to unexpectedly move out, and we are looking for a chill, fun and flexible roommate for a 6 month lease (March – July).
A bit about us:
We are both young teachers in the Philly district and work late weekdays and most weekends. Our schedules are not always consistent, but we work a lot. An ideal roommate would be understanding and helpful around the house. We like to have fun on the weekends, cook dinners together during the week and are looking for a roommate to join in the fun.
A bit about the house:
- Small bedroom available, working space downstairs, washer/dryer in house, newly renovated kitchen and marble bathrooms, hardwood floors and small backyard patio.
- Energy bill usually = ~ $60 a month in the winter
- Wireless internet = $5 a month
- Rent = $700 a month
- Cable included free
If you are interested, contact us at the craigslist email above. We will be in touch to set up a time to meet and show the apartment. We are looking for someone to start March 1 or mid-March. Let us know your needs and we can work with you!
Thanks for your time!
Jeff & Becca
I’ve been thinking I need a big change. Maybe I should up-and-get to Philly…
