Another Snow Day

Yes, you read it right – another snow day! Yesterday was absolutely amazing. For the second week in a row, schools were closed on Wednesday – giving a nice break in the middle of 5 day weeks. I’ve got to admit, I’m getting a little spoiled.
This time, the snow was much thicker and the streets were literally filled with fluffy snow. On Tuesday night, I spent an hour in the streets of my neighborhood just playing in the snow – on the sidewalks, in the gutters, on top of cars. It was like a winter wonderland. I was a kid and nothing was going to stop me from enjoying it. By the time I went to bed, it was clear the schools would be closed – there was over 3 inches of snow and it was still coming!
Here was my day, in photos and words:
I woke up at 8:3o and did some work. I am all planned for next week (unheard of!) already.
Then I made me way over to Morning Glory for brunch with my roommate Becca, below.

We had a delicious meal and the BEST hot chocolate I’ve ever tasted.
If you come to visit, this will be the first and last place I take you.

We got a breakfast fritatata, which is made with egg (like an omelet), dill trout, mushrooms, goat cheese and asparagus. It was a bit much of a mix, but creative and fun to eat. I wouldn’t get it again.
After brunch, we strolled through the streets and did some snow sightseeing…

They take this snow thing seriously – there were people everyone shoveling and salting the streets and sidewalks.

Icicles taste horrible, in case you are wondering. Snow, however, tastes great.

We stumbled upon a park and worked on making a snowperson.
A few neighborhood kids were teasing us and wanted to kick over our snowperson, but we defended it. After some civil back and forth one of the little brats tackled me into the snowperson.
Like, actually tackled me.
Then it looked like this:

After the park, we headed home. I ran some errands and did some more work before going to dinner with teacher friends. We ate at a nice little fancy Mexican place called Tequilas. I got a giant lava bowl of chicken and loved every bite of it.
Then I went to see Rent on their Broadway Tour stop in Philly. I had never seen the musical on stage, just on screen, and didn’t know what to expect. Even though we were on the highest stoop from the action, the music and personalities really got me. What a great performance and story. I kind of want to watch the movie again. There were people there that had seen the musical like 5 times…I don’t think I’ll ever go that far, but I can appreciate it.
The day was over. There’s always hoping for next week…

I can’t believe that you ate South Philly icicles. EEEEW! I’m glad you discovered Morning Glory. When I lived in the Gayborhood, we’d always walk down there when I had house guests. Victor rolls his eyes at the Morning Glory.
We do prefer Ida Mae’s now. I have to admit that they do it better.
